i have a intel 865gv chipset rite now im using a celeron d but i have a few spare p4's :D can i just swap them or do i have to change bios settings

any help would be great

ps wooo first post lol i realy think ima like this forum :P

no a straight swap. assuming they are a socket match as P4s are on both 775 and 478 (and technically the 423 as well :D)
the celeron-d's were also made on 775 and 478 so you need to make sure they fit the sockets :)

yeah it will fit

lol compleatly forgot to ask my other question a p4 2.4 ghz is better than a 2.9 ghz celerond d right

APJ while your here, by how much would those processors differ? because in my HP, i have a 2.9GHZ celeron and its purely terrible, would i really notice the difference from this to a 2.6ghz p4?

It is, but it's not that big of an upgrade.

This is a similar answer, it would be better although it wouldn't be much of an upgrade.

agreed, the diff would be bigger however, if we assume he means celeron non D

no it is just a plain old celeron d

the only reason im uprading to the pentium 4 2.4 ghz insted of somthing better is because i got a few of these for free :D
