Someone Help!

Two days ago, I noticed that whenever I tried playing a song or a video (be it on the internet or on my hard drive), said media slows down and is distorted at times. Strangely enough, this only occurs when my CPU light is on, indicating that something is going on in the background.

I've ran both my antivirus and antispyware programs, and they have all come up with nothing suspicious.

If you do have a solution, please let me know.

too many codec installed maybe...

i doubt it has anything to do with codecs you probably have too much crap loaded in the back ground, if you're running xp right click the task bar and click task manager, then click the processes tab, how many processess are running, should say in the bottom left. Also how much ram do you have and what is your processor speed.
