i dont know, i think i read it somehwere that it can fix the red cross error

Try disabling smooth scrolling:
1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Click the Use Smooth Scrolling check box to clear it, and then click OK.
Also, found this, you could give it a try, (don't know if it will work):...
Configure your computer to not use graphics accelerator functions:
a. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
b. On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
c. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None.
d. Click OK, and then click Close.
e. Click Yes to restart your computer.
Also, (not sure if it's been mentioned inthe thred), try clearing your temp internet files and cookies.

First of all I would get rid of IE and go to Mozilla Firefox. The IE is tied into your windows OS and makes WEB browsing vulnerable. Mozilla is a stand alone that works great. I did have a similar problem before I switched to Mozilla and I reset WEB settings and the default settings but I believe I fixed it by downloading the latest Java file and installed it. I think they are up to version 5 or later. Good luck!
