something has happened to chat

In several forums, I can no longer enter chat - because the
screen disappears, and returns to my desktop.
What could have happened? And what can I do about it?
One member suggested that maybe it has something to
do with Java.
Any ideas?

Look in add/remove programs for multiple instances of the java software. You only need the newest version which is version 6 update 10 and you can get it here http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp. Uninstall anything that refers to java or j2se runtime and then install the latest version. Having more than one version of java installed causes issues like this.

when I checked, there is in the computer:
Java (TM) 6 update 7.
Should I just remove it, then add the one that
you mentioned?
 
If you only have the one version installed i highly doubt its a java issue but you can try uninstalling it and install the newest version. Another possibility could be a windows update causing the issue. Have you installed any updates or new software recently?
