Sometimes my computer freezes while it's loading up in the morning.

Sometimes my computer freezes while it should be trying to get to the point where it's done starting up in the morning. The desktop appears, and the icons, and sometimes some programs in my 'Startup' folder open, but then it freezes, no more loading, and it doesn't let me interact with it in any way other than that the mouse moves, no matter how long I wait. This morning I had to force a restart several times before it successfully loaded up, which was worse than ever. I thought maybe I had too many programs in my 'Startup' folder so I chopped it in half in Safe Mode, but still it happens sometimes. It feels like it could be anything, so I'm not sure what to do.
 
What OS are you using? How much ram? What is in your start up? If you take everything out of startup does your computer boot up fine?
 
MY OS is Windows XP, my RAM is 4GB, and nowadays nothing's in my Startup, in case it affects the startup ability, but sometimes my computer doesn't boot up fine even when Startup is empty like that.
 
In your Control Panel, look in Administration Tools. Under Applications and System see if there are any errors and compare these with the time that you booted. It should give you some indication where the problem is.
 
Just tagging on to TFT's excellent suggestion:

You want to launch the "Event Viewer" within the Administration Tools and then you will see the Applications and System sections that TFT is suggesting. This will show you the error logs. More specifically, you want to look for "Error" or "Warning" flags in the Type column.
 
Well, I had an unexpected reboot recently while I was using the computer, which is a different error, and a very rare one, but the Event Viewer shows Errors at the time of the reboot:

Ftdisk
The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver.
Configuring the Page file for crash dump failed. Make sure there is a page file on the boot partition and that is large enough to contain all physical memory.

Service Control Manager
The TrueVector Internet Monitor service hung on starting.
The adfs service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
The SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service terminated with service-specific error 3417 (0xD59).
