So I am graduating this year and am trying to push for a PS3 for a graduation gift. What version should i go with. I see the 80 gb and the 120 gb on tiger direct, pricing at 399 and 499 respectively. What are the differences between the two. Is it just the hard drive size b/c if so its def not worth the extra 100 when i could just purchase my own hard drive and replace it.

just get the cheaper one, you can even get the older models if you dont care about playing PS2 games, they run about $250-$300 used (40GB hdd models). The hdd is a standard SATA 2.5" laptop hard drive, easy to upgrade.

aye. get the 80gb if you don't want the older models. chances are you won't fill up 80gigs that quick. i have the 80gb.

I have the 60gb version, and i still havent filled it up. And i have 10gb of that sent over to my linux partition:P But also... the new ps3's dont have backward compatibility with ps2 games, so imo i would go for one of the older 60gb models if you can find one and upgrade the hard drive.

ya get the cheaper one since you can easily upgrade the hard drive... plus Sony tells you how to do it... real childs play!
