Sony sells its Vaio divison

Good for flogging on though when you get them in a batch of faulty units!

I had a Vaio, very reliable but completely unrefined. I remember my fans sounded like my wife's blow dryer. I just bought my Lenovo and I looked at Vaio's due to the fact mine was so reliable but I would have had to pay $300 more.

Though I seen this coming, PC sales have been declined for some time thanks to advancements in tablets. For this reason I knew we would watch some electronic companies drop their laptop lines. I don't think laptop's are going any where but what we will be left with companies in which specialize in notebooks and tablet instead of companies like Sony who have other businesses they are more concerned about.
 
With the exception of the PS4, Sony and the other japanese companies seem to be losing out to the Koreans, mainly Samsung.
Tablets may be the growth sector and may be more profitable than laptops, but personally I much prefer using a laptop or desktop over a tablet. I use my smartphone all the time, but never carry or use a tablet.
 
Ian, depends what segment. Vaio wasn't making money, they had inflated prices and misread the market, where apple just creamed it.
