when I install Sigmatel audio driver for my Vaio
Vaio VGN-FE28H
Vaio VGN-FE28H
Go into your bios first of all and see if the onboard sound is enabled. If that model was just purchased or you are trying to install sound drivers for using sound just now it may have been shipped with that feature disabled in the bios. Hopefully it won't turn out to be defective audio chip on the system board.
If what stated by pc_eye doesn't work, it can simply just be, like said.. you got the wrong version of the firmware.
Did you install it from an existing disc/file? Did you download the driver? Or which method did you take to install the driver.
where is Bios?
This is one is not that hard but needs a look in the user's manual for details. Upon first turning on the Sony you should see the option to press the "Del" key or another assigned key to enter setup. That is what you use to enter the bios in order to change settings there.
Your manual will direct you to the various settings there. First review the section about the bios to get familiar with that. Once you see how it is divided into sections the rest is basic to follow. Just locate the audio setting there to see if it was left disabled.
