Sony Vaio PCG-K45 recovery HELP!

Hey, I've heard of the problem with these Vaio's showing the 'operating system not found' stuff, mine went out completely and the HD is crashed (completely done, I put in a new one). Does anyone know how I can get this thing up and running? I have a XP pro disk, but it wont even boot it and re-install the OS. My firend had the 7 recovery disks, but to my dismay, they don't work with my computer... Anyone know anything?

Try doing this but the only problem would be you might loose your data. Press F8 and select "last known good configuration" or something like that. That should make it work. But I am shocked it wont boot from the windows xp cd.
