If you haven't bought into apple yet, don't. Period. If you do, you are pretty much stuck there for eternity. Samsung does have a smart switch programs, but you still have to purchase apps again if you buy them.
I looked at the sony tablets, and they look pretty good, but you do realize that the xperia Z is a 5in smartphone right, not a tablet.
I have a galaxy tab 2 10.1 and love it, I would prefer more ports, but the adaptes for my galaxy are really cheap on amazon. I like samsungs touchwiz, even thought many people don't for whatever reason, it adds a lot of features.
Samsung is really good about updates, I don't know how long sony releases updates, but I do know Samsung is one of the best for android as far as updates.
I also wouldn't but a tablet without a micro sd card slot, you can get a 16gb micro sd card on amazon for $5.
And if you ask an apple person this question, they will say that android doesn't have apps, or good apps. This is basically a rumor, ios does usually get the app first, but within 2 weeks its almost always on android. and there are very few apps ios has that android doesn't.
Is there anything in particular you are going to be using it for? In an honest race apple loses in every aspect...
