hi,i have just bought a motherboard from ebay and it says the it supports pentium4 775 processors,i have 2 pent4 cpus but dont know if they are 775s
the motherboard is a EQS 775 M55P9-MLF,i have tried there website but it is under reconstruction, can anyone please tell me if any pentium 4 processor can be used as they are not marked 775 or any other number...thank you ....alan

As far as i know NOT just any pentium 4 will work. They come in socket 478, lga 775, these would be the most recent ones obviously. There should be markings in black stamped on top of the cpu to identify its make/type.
I hope this is of some aid...

thank you both for your help ,it also states that it is for a SATA hdd,do they connect using different leads ?? and is a sata drive better than the original ones ??...alan

One way to tell is, look at the picture below, and if the back of the pent4 you have looks like this then it is 775 LGA.

This is of a socket 775 LGA, notice that the CPU itself doesn't have any pins
