sound activated LEDS

my friend has sound activated lights (like long neon sticks) and i was wondering what i need to get them.

its cool becouse when you talk they turn off and on.
 
I don't know their exact names, but I'm pretty sure Newegg would have them... Also, I know those long ones aren't LEDs. I beleive they're called cold cathode ray tubes...
 
i searched newegg and they had a few stuff but since im new at this area i don't really know what to get and what i need in order to make them work
