you may have just answered a question i have had on my mind for the past :rolleyes::rolleyes: quite a while :p

Does that by any chance go into the little tiny slots by the PCI slots that always seem to be useless and have no need as no components generally utilise them :p ?
The pci-express x1 slots? Yes. Some other things use them too though, raid controllers, network cards, etc.

I have always wondered what used those, you stopped me from caliming a little money back for wasted space from Asus with that link of yours :p

I upgraded to that from the extreme audio and there was a great difference, and even the extreme audio sounded a hell of a lot better than any onboard so I'd say go for it.

Looks like a nice sound card to me...I am sure you will be pleased.

I have one that is half that price and it sounds great;)

If you have ears the size of a microwave (first thing I saw) then get it. I find onboard sound to be more than adequate.
