Sound from PC to TV help

I just installed a new graphic card in my HP PC. Card has 2 DVI plugs on back and came /w a DVI to HDMI adaptor. I bought a 25' HDMI cable and connected to TV. If I reboot PC, I get a picture on TV, but no sound. Sound is still coming out of the monitors speakers. I though that a HDMI cable carried audio also. I have a STB connected to the TV on a different input, and I get sound from it. Not sure why I am not getting sound from PC to TV using new card!

Only way to get sound to HDMI/DVI/VGA is to either use Radeon GPU (built in sound processor apparently) or attach the 2 pin cable from audio to Nvidia GPU.

Another way the way I do it is...I use a RCA white/red and hook it into my TV then I have a RCA to Mic Jack..which I plug into my headphone jack on my speakers. This transfers sound to my PC. You can buy it at Radioshack for like $3.99

After installing card, I had a very small black wire left over. Couldn't find a place on mother board to plug it into. Was not sure I needed that cable. Could that be the cable you are talking about?

Yeah it should be a 2 pin cable...will plug into the GPU...I dunno where to actually put it....someone wiser then I might know.

I do know it has to be plugged into the audio so depending on what your motherboard manual says it could be anywhere.

Your mobo may not support that type of audio connection. DVI does not carry audio just video. HDMI does carry video and audio. Since your using the adapter you are likley not going to get audio.
