I got this new reconditioned laptop (oxymoron), for the price it's brilliant couldn't pass the offer. It's excellent and all but just the sound... it was good just until today (second day of testing). It sounds like someone's added an 8-bit plugin to the soundcard, like, everything that comes out comes out like it's 1993. Youtube, MP3's, my por...uhm 'video' files... And then, it's alright again for a few attempts, and then 8 bit mania again.
I tried installing and uninstalling/reinstalling the realtek sound card drivers, disassembled the laptop to check if anything was loose in there... I noticed just a couple of items on the side weren't tightly screwed in but that's how the laptop's built.
The weird thing is, on startup the laptop goes to this 'Republic of Gamers' logo screen and it plays a little sound, and the quality there's untouched... but as soon as Windows runs, bam, it's the 1990's and it's soundblaster Wolf3D all over again. What could I do ?
