Sound not working

This is strange. All my drivers are working, nothing is muted, and my sound is not working. And I know it's not a hardware-based problem since my speakers work just fine in Linux, it just won't work in Windows. Anyone know what could be wrong?

I have heard of tihs problem before. It used to happen to me all the time when I had Vista on my laptop. Do you have Vista or XP?

I'm currently using XP Home. I should also mention that in addition to my speakers working fine on Linux, if I connect external speakers or headphones to my laptop, I can still get sound when in Windows. So this is really weird, in my opinion.

Another note: I'm using a Compaq v3000T. Compaq and HP laptops are nearly one in the same since Compaq is owned by HP, so it's possible your laptop has hardware similar to mine. But I still think it's really weird that I can get sound with headphones/external speakers since I know my speakers work on Linux.

I would try looking for a new sound driver. I know you said your sound works in Linux, but Linux requires different drivers than Windows. I would go to HP's website and lookup a sound driver for your computer and see if that works.
