Hey, Iam currently using built in speakers from my LCD screen(acer). Recently I have some problems , when I visit sites such as www.youtube.com i cant hear anything. Not only that ,some games that i used to play had no certain sound effect. My .mp3 musics / videos are all working fine.

Did i misconfigure anything, or is there a possiblity my speakers are malfunctioning? Please help! Thx in advance!:D

Onboard or expansion card? Many games rely on the EAX effects seen with Creative sound cards. Likewise some videos on youtube are similarly looking for the typical playback found with an installed sound card over what is offered by simply using onboard sound. There's nothing apparently wrong with the speakers themselves since you are adequately hearing music and the sound in videos.

Onboard or expansion card? what you mean? sorry iam a computer idiot :o
I used to be able to hear sounds on youtube.com but somehow recently theres no sound anymore. So is there anything wrong with my soundcard? burnt?

Totally untrue. Some games can USE EAX and such but none require it.

If you have two sound cards in(say a PCI and an onboard one) there's a chance some programs might be using the other card rather than your primary device...

Perhaps you've somehow set it to 5.1 or some other surround sound mode... Be sure you have your speakers connected to the front output(typically it's a green port). Look for software regarding your sound card. Sometimes it's located on your Programs list, sometimes it's in control panel. Perhaps even check your drivers, maybe even update them.

I see 3D audio configuration(xear3d) on my desktop panel. That should be the software soundcard i suppose? and i see 5.1 music ect. But i don't know what it means. Oh yea mines a PCI

In order to use EAX a Creative brand card is the thing required. That's what the games count on being there. Besides having the speaker settings wrong some boards will see a blue not green front channel jack. On most boards for onboard and installed cards you will see a mic in and line in and mayby an auxillery on newer models for digital above the three or four speaker output jacks. The green or blue for the front will stand out from the line in on most.
