sound thur dmi to hdmi

I am trying to hook up my 42" panasonic plasma to my desktop pc, I am running it thru the nivida 8600gt with a dmi cord to an hdmi. I have video but cant get the sound, the desktop is running xp and I know this can work cuz i do it with my laptop but the laptop has an hdmi out. just wondering if i can get sound out thru the dmi hdmi cord? thanks so much.

Not unless there are ports on the sound card that you can use a cable from there to the video card. You are better off just using your pc speakers or you'll have to figure out a way to go from sound card to input on tv.
