Sound volume is locked - what can I do? Please help!

the volume is locked on max. I really don't know how to solve this problem.

I had this problem once. I uninstalled my sound drivers, rebooted, reinstalled them, rebooted. Problem solved.

Yes, i agree. Also, I assume you have tried rebooting normally and it hasnt fixed it?

If you have a multimedia keyboard or the like, drivers have been known to conflict, worth trying another keyboard or multimedia device if the problem persist after reinstalling drivers.
