Hey guys

seeing as my motherboard designers desided it would be a good idea to put a huge heatsink behind the PCIe x1 slot, i can put any full size sound card there...

now im in the market for a sound card, but seeing as i cant put it in the PCIe x1 slot, i have a few PCIe x 16 slots available. Can i just plug the card in there?

I cant use a normal PCI lane as that will completely block of my GFX cards fan...

thanks for the help

It will work fine. The PCIe1 is literally a cut down version of the 16 lane big brother.

TBH, most modern soundcards for PCs are pretty short and should fit. If you're using an old card to compare with, you may be surprised.

Also, you have a ok sound card on the motherboard, so don't expect miracles unless you have good headphones or speakers.

im gettting crackling noises and ive got a good headset, so im looking for this upgrade

it wont fit at all. the heatsing comes up about 2cm and is directly after the PCIe x1 slot. so anything longer than the slot wont fit.

at least i know it will work, so i can use any of hte other PCIe slots!
