I could really use some help. I installed windows 7 ultimate and now I have no sound. my soundcard is sound max. I downloaded many drivers but none have worked. I could use any suggestion before buying a new soundcard.
thanks

The best place to get a Windows 7 driver is the manufacture, if they don't offer a 7 driver sometimes a Vista driver will work, or see if Windows update comes up with one.

On a relativity new computer, made in the past couple years a driver should be available. On old XP vintage computer, Sound cards often don't work with Windows 7.

Either need the make and model of computer you bought or the model of motherboard if its a custom built computer so we can direct you to the correct driver.

Motherboard is HP D530 CMT DS577AV pent 4

If the file won't work then go to windows update and see if there is a driver update available for it. The file worked fine for me, did you right click on the link and click on open in new window?

yes I did that. I also found the drivers for the motherboard hpd530cmt with the right audio driver and still nothing.

any help would be appreciated :(

Hp's website only lists drivers for xp, so not sure where you got the right driver from. This system is too old to have windows 7 drivers. Your only other option is get a pci sound card that supports windows 7. Or see if windows updates will give you the driver for it automatically.

I got a eny sound card and installed but still speaker says no audio output device installed. I am realyl stumped I have never had this happen. I had sound with xp but no sound with 7?

Go into sounds and audio devices in control panel and pick the pci soundcard as your output.
