Space issue with Windows 10

I have an Asus X205TA which has only 20 gb emm Drive. I have about 2 gb free space left. When I tried to upgrade to W10, it ran into problem and failed. I suspect that I don't have enough of the disk space for the operation.

Any advise, and how much spare space I need to upgrade to W10?

I can uninstall some of the applications to free up some space. But I'd like to know how much I have to free up.

You probably don't have enough space to do an in-line upgrade. The eMMC is only sized at 32 GB.

You could probably fresh install if you had a key but otherwise an inline upgrade would probably be a no-go from a capacity perspective.

How do I fresh install? I am running Win 8 and received an upgrade invitation. Where do I obtain the key?
Thanks.

You probably need to remove any personal data off the drive so that it will give you enough space for the upgrade. Remove programs if you have to. Can you get a bigger drive for it?

I am not aware that I can upgrade the emmc drive.

I am preparing the Win 8 recovery USB now, just in case I need to abandon the Win 10 upgrade.
