Hey just wanna get a little feedback on a component list I have in mind for high end system. I expect to be spending above 2k for all components listed. What do you guys think?

CASE: Coolermaster HAF 932 full tower
CPU: AMD phenom II x6 1090t black edition
GPU: Asus Ares 5870 x2 4gb OR XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition 2gb GDDR5
HARD DRIVE: Western Digital 600gb Velociraptor bare drive
MOBO: Asus Crosshair IV Formula
MODEM: Motorola SB6120
OPTICAL: Pioneer BDR-205
PSU: Corsair AX1200
RAM: G skill 8gb 2x4gb dual channel 2000mhz ddr3

Personally I'd go i7 for a high end system. Looking at reviews on the 1090T it appears to be about equal to an i7-950 in multi threaded apps, but is significantly outperformed by the 750, 870, and the 920 in gaming applications.

I'd also go with an SSD + 7200 HHD combo for storage rather than a big VelociRaptor. I think it would "feel" a lot faster for about the same price or less depending on the size of the SSD.

Video, I dunno. An $1,100 card seems crazy when a pair of 460s for $400 will play about anything out there. Plus the new high end AMDs will be available soon.

Not trying to be critical, just giving my opinion - mine's not necessarily right for you.
 
No worries, but I already have that case and mobo so I planned the parts around it. I'll definitely consider the SSD drive, but I do need a nice amount of space so I thought the VR would be a nice balance of space and speed without costing too much.

Bump: decided not to go with the soundcard because I realized I already have an audio interface(but still haven't figured out how to use it for sound). It also appears the motherboard has good enough onboard audio(7.1) so I wouldn't completely be out of luck.

Could I get some more feedback though? If I go ssd+7200hd which models should I get? Will all these parts work with each other?
 
If I was building for myself and had the MB and case, I'd stick with the 1090T.

For storage, I'd probably go with a Vertex 2 and a 1 TB Spinpoint or Barracuda,

You didn't mention PSU, I'd go with at least 850W for future upgradability

And, I'd go ahead with a single 6870 with plans to add another in the future. Right now, performance and price is right, and a second in CrossFire later should be a match for just about any single card for a time to come.

I edited in a psu, Corsair AX1200.. I'm just wondering if it's compatible with my motherboard/cpu, and whether it supports Crossfire as it doesn't mention it(maybe it's a conveniently excluded fact?).
