Specs for battlefield bad company 2?

reading from the back of the box at the recomended specs:

CPU: Quad @ 2.0GHz+
Memory: 2GB
Video: 512MB+ GTX260/HD4870)

You could get away with a high clocked dual core though, and I was playing it on a 3870 on medium settings with no problems, so you could get away with less video card too

im running a [email protected] 3gig of 800mhz ram and a gtx 460 with everything on high and i get between 35-50fps...

but i notice my cpu is under full load constant, so i will be upgrading to either a Q6600 or Q9550

Q9550 is excellent.

Official minimum specs are:

•Processor: C2D 2.0GHz
•Memory: 2GB
•Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
•Graphics memory: 256MB
•OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
•Free HDD space:
15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2)
10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

Oh, and a decent Internet connection for online play. Dial-up is a no-no.

And recommended as Aastii said,
•Processor: Intel Quad Core
•Memory: 2GB
•Graphics card: GeForce GTX 260
•Graphics memory: 512MB
•OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7

You could probably get away with less on all of them except memory; dual core should be OK, and GTS250/5670 plays BFBC2 just fine, on medium.

I think you'll be fine with a dual-core CPU and using a HD 4850 (these cards are definitely the best bang for your buck!) - same number of stream processors as the 4870 except it's GDDR3 and a slower core clock. I have two in Crossfire and I'm running the game at full settings with anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering on at max at 1920 x 1080 resolution with around 40-50 FPS.

Like I said, I had it playing on a 3870 on medium settings no problems, if anything you might be able to get away with an 8600GT on low settings

True. I guess what I was trying to say, rather than regurgitate what you've already pointed out, was that the 4850 is still readily available off Newegg, TigerDirect, etc. and runs for around $125 and below. The 3870 and 8600 GT are pretty much discontinued, unless you resort to eBay, but for how well-priced the 4850 is and the performance it packs, it's probably one of the best video card upgrades for the price.

Quad core really helps in BFBC2. My friend has a Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz and it lags behind my Core 2 Quad 2.4ghz (all else practically equal).

I played BC2 for a few days on this rig while my main one was down.

Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86Ghz
2gb DDR2 800Mhz
Nvidia 8800GT 512Mb

Played fine on Medium settings @ 1680x1050,Not sure what FPS i was getting but it was playable without lag.
But i would recommend going quad core just to get that best performance.
