Speed on a 128Kbit connection?

People often get confused between bits and bytes when it comes to internet speeds. I've even had my technical support spend 10 mins arguing with me that bits and bytes were the same. Basically there's 8 bits in a byte, so with that speed it'd take around 65 seconds to download 1MB.
 
I'll get 128kb/sec while downloading and it'll take me 65 seconds to download just 1MB, thats what i found by combining the above two replies, and its unrealistic :P

For reference, it took 17.5 seconds to download the test file here using Internet Explorer on my current connection, how much seconds (estimated) will it take to do the same, just by using a 128kb/sec connection ( you can try estimating it by comparing it with your own connection ).
 
You won't ever get 128Kb/s download or uploads on a 128Kb connection. I think you'll get about 16kb/s on that connection!(correct me if i'm wrong).
 
ISDN gives 128kbps. I used to have it before broadband was available to me. I cant remember what speeds i was getting, but it wasn't as much as 128kbps.

128Kb/sec = 16KB/sec because every 8 bits is equal to 1 byte.

The small letter "b" is bit and the capital letter "B" is byte.

Its 128Kbps exactly and the fastest DSL connection available is of 256Kbps. Then exactly what do we need to get around 90+ kbps speed?

90KB/s x 8 = 720Kb/s

To achieve 90KB/s download rate, you would need at least a 720Kbit connection.
