Hi,

I just run a Broadband speed test to see how fast my connection was.

Here are the results...

Downstream 1,921.3 Kbps ( = 1.9 Mbps )
Upstream 238.1 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )

And another test said..
Your Connection Loaded 322,649 bytes in 2.094 seconds.

Are these good speeds or what?

Obviusly not the fastest as i have the cheapest service my provider offers i think...Well i pay £17.99 a month.

Anyone please i would like to know because im thinking if its slow compared to other ISPs in my country then im gonna switch to another ISP.

Why does it matter what we think of it? If it is fast enought for you, then that is all that matters. It isn't great, but then again it isn't bad either.

Your estimated download speed is: 4,736 kbits/sec - (4.63Mb) - (592 KBytes/sec)

Well Thats terrible as im meant to beon 8meg broadband. But BT are still testing the line and my wireless network card has terrible reception.

If your downloading large files, then maybe at faster one will help, but if it suits your needs, then its fine

My internet sucks ass here. I'm on DSL, but I'm in a fringe area. It's driving me mental, because half my life is spent online for one thing or another.

I already went ballistic on them a few times and they cut the price in half, but I still don't think it's worth anything. Looks like I'll be switching to "share your bandwidth with the neighborhood" cable.

I'd take Dsl if it was in my area.. they offer the 6mb one, like a mile away from my house

Yeah its fast enough for surfing and most downloads.

But say if i wonna download the latest Vista release then it can take over 3 hours sometimes:mad:

Although game demos such as Prey only took 40Mins:D

Well, if its fine for you, as i said, stick with it. plus, its not like your gonna download things like Vista everyday

Speed is relative, whats fast for someone may be slow for another, its all down to that persons perceptioon of what fast and slow is, hence no one can actually answer your question.

Im on 8Mb from BT aswell, recently our exchange caught fire, after a week of being on 256K they re-routed my service to the next furthest exchange, which is a crappy old one (like 11 years old) and its fecking miles away, im currently on the equivalent of about 1.6Mb line, and still paying for bloody 8meg, yup, BT arent my favorite people at the moment, i ring them most days and shout at them
