SpeedFan Features

Hey everyone, i know some/most of you use SpeedFan to monitor stuff, i was gracefully informed by Chris Chan last night that i wasnt runnign the newest one. I upgraded to 4.28 to find to my pleasure that they have integrated an EVENTS system into ti now, so you can set it to perform alerts and sounds etc... if your temps/speeds/voltages reach or go below certain values, of course its all customisable aswell.

this may wellbe old news now and im jsut really slow, but i think its great, cos on all the other versions of speedfan i always said there sohould be events, and now there is, well, just though i'd let you know.

A cool feature is to link the event to shutdown.exe, then if your PC gets to like 60*c then windows will shutdown, this is alot nicer than letting the mobo just shut down instantly and causing corruption and that.

Oh yeh, and it uses the windows balloon thingy, so it lokos good and makes that cool POP noise when it notifies you, lol, im easily pleased

The newest version is SpeedFan v4.28 -- DOWNLOAD LINKhttp://www.almico.com/speedfan428.exe

You can DO that?? I had no idea. THANK YOU!
Tom

thats ok, you could link it to any program, if your nifty with C# or anything you could make a prgram that does absolutely anythign

well, just o you know, i was fiddling, then realised, silly me, you cant just run shutsdown.exe and shut the PC down, you have to set a timer by using a switch on the end of shutdown....

in the even tell it to execute "shutdown -t xx" (where xx is the no of second til shutdown, set it to 1 if you want a near instant shutdwn).

sorry for the wrong post earlier, dragon

oh dear oh dear, i really should test thigns out ebfore making them public knowledge, lol, below is a screenshot of what it shoudl look like, among other mistakes i made, you must link DIRECTLY to the exe you want to run, so just typing in shutdown.exe wouldnt cut it

sorry for all of the changes etc... but i can confirm that the above event DOES work fully. just dont set the temp too low, i set it at like 45, my idle temp was about 46 at the time, boy that was hard to get rid of.... lol

thats ok, i jsut thought i HAD to tell you, because it sounded like you had already tried it out, and if you had then it wouldnt have worked with what i told you nitially, i would have felt bad if i fried your CPU, lol. but yeh, the above screenshot DOES work, i put F@H on at 100% CPU on a hot day yesterday, room temp was 28*c CPU got to 62*c then windows shut down in a nice way, ended all processes and shut itself down, NICE, not like the harsh way a mobo would do, which is basically just shut the power off, lol.... (saying that though, i do still have my mobo shutdown temp set at 65*c, just incase i shut speedfan down and forgot to open it again or somethign).

again, sorry for the mixup, i should have tested it before posting intitally.

Not a problem, Dragon. I run F@H too, and summer is indeed coming. I usually wait a while when anyone says to try something like this, just in case there are issues that someone may discover... like these! I'll try it as soon as I have a bit of free time. Thanks again.
Regards from Tom
