Speeding computer start up and general running with msconfig

I just bought a new computer. In the past people recommend if you want to speed up load up and general running times you should run msconfig, and uncheck things you don't want running in the startup tab. However, whenever I've done this I get a box popping up when I log into windows telling me what I've done, refusing the option to not pop up. Which is a bit intrusive isn't it? Any way to turn this off?

I think that box usualy comes up the first time you make changes, and should have an option near the "okay" button that says 'don't tell me again' or something like that.

yea, it should only come up the first time after making changes.... If it keeps showing up, there might be some other problem... Either someone else is making changes... or a program is making changes.... or Windows is screwing up. Like that could ever happen... lol

And also, just to let you know if you have a program like AIM or MSN Messenger installed, even if you uncheck it, once you open the program it will start-up again on reboot unless you unchecked it in the program not to run at start-up. Some programs dont offer this, and everytime you run them they will start up again.
