Splinting my Pc in 10?...

Good morning to everyone.

I have several noobish questions.I would be very thanksful,if you guys would answer them patiently. Also, english is not my native language, but I try my best :)

1)I am going to buy a Pc with two ati 5870(that one with 4 gb),an intel i7,8 gb on ram or more.i think that were the important things to name.

So,my first question would be a little bit offtopic, but should I buy it or is there better gear which comes in the near future?

2)I want to play with my friends a lan party.is it practically possible to run several versions of a game on my pc and splinting this games on several monitors with individual keyboards and mouses?I mean not new games, old games like counter strike 1.6 or warcraft.Im not sure if you know them, they are 10 years old or so.

3)Are there administration tools for such a thing? And can I do something that they only can access this particular program, not the program of the other users?

4)If my questions above doesnt work, could I run games in virtual computers?and how much is a single virtual computer burden my main one?

I know,its a strange question,but if you have suggestions,you are more than welcome :)

1. why 2 5870? They're old already. crossfire is overrated also. (might be better to put this question in another thread in the right subforum).
2. probably not possible. But it depends completely on the game.
3. dunno probably not
4. You can try but the performance would suck. anything graphically more demanding then lemmings (for example) would be to much.

Oh and what does this have to do with networking?

1. There are no 5870s that have 4gb unless you are talking about the dual 5870 ares card. Which would be a waste of money IMHO. You could get a single 6950 for less than $300 and have performance at or around a single 5870.

2. Might be a fun project to try but I have serious doubts that it will work. Even if you could get it to run I don't see any way to link the games together so that they can play against each other since all of the games are on the same system.

3. Not that I know of.

4. No. I have tried running games in a VM before and it is not easy and you get very poor performance. Even with guest additions installed it still had terrible performance.

The games that you mentioned are not very demanding. An average laptop should be able to run them. If your friends have laptops I would have them game on that. Just be sure that you are hosting the server. That way you can take the stress off their system.
