Spylocked 3.6 issue

I did a bad thing. I downlowded a MySpace profile viewer. In defense of MySpace, I'm not sure if the download was associated with their site. Anyways, I got (free of charge) Spylocked 3.6, Security Troubleshooting, and Online Security Guide. These look harmless and look like their from Microsoft. I don't want any of it and can't delete the programs. I looked at similar posts and did the SmitFraudFix action. Please help me with what to do next. Report as follows:

You may wish to copy these instructions to notepad or print them out for use in Safe Mode.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode:
How to Boot into Safe mode

Now open the SmitfraudFix folder on your desktop and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

Select option #2 - "Clean" by typing 2 and pressing "Enter" to delete the infected files.

You will then receive the following prompt:

"Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ? (y/n)"

Type Y for yes and press "Enter" to remove the Desktop background and clean the associated registry keys for this infection.

The tool will then check if the file wininet.dll is infected.

You may be prompted to replace the infected file with another copy from your machine (if found):

"Replace infected file ? (y/n)"

Type Y for yes and press "Enter" to restore a clean copy of the file on your machine.

Restart your computer to complete the removal process.

(A log file of the fix can be found at the root of your system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt)

========

Also post a HijackThis log as suggested above.

If you're not familiar with HijackThis, download HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop to start the installation.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back to this thread and Paste the log (Ctrl+V) in your next reply.

I went through the safe mode fix. Went without a hitch. Rebooted and everything looks back to normal. There's still the Spylocked 3.6 program icon. I'm afraid to have it uninstall for fear that I get the same problems again. Anyways most recent Smitfraud and Hijack logs as follows:

It looks like the Option 2 log was overwritten by running Option 1 again at a later date. No worries, you can delete the following manually.

Scan with HijackThis and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries:-

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1FC80E00-41B0-4F74-BC16-2C83ED49CAC9} - C:\Program Files\Video AX Object\bpvol.dll (file missing)

Close all other windows except HijackThis and click the "Fix Checked" button.

Then search for the following files in bold using Windows Explorer:

C:\Documents and Settings\ckaiwikuamoo\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\SpyLocked 3.6.lnk
C:\DOCUME~1\CKAIWI~1\STARTM~1\Programs\SpyLocked 3.6
C:\DOCUME~1\CKAIWI~1\FAVORI~1\Online Security Test.url

*Once found, right click on them and select delete.

Then run an online scan at Panda ActiveScan

Once on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button and then the Check Now button on the nex screen.

Enter your details in the required fields.

Then click the big Scan Now button.

Allow the Active X component to install and download the necessary files.

When the download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan.

Upon scan completion, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Post the scan results when done please.

Just some unwanted cookies to clear according to the Panda scan (the items detected in the SmitfraudFix folder are legitimate tools the scan can't distinguish between good and bad).

Everything back to normal?

Lovely jubbly!!

Everything appears to be in order so I guess we can wrap things up for the time being.

In the meantime, please follow these simple steps to keep yourself safe and secure in the future.

Re-Hide your System Files

Please rehide your hidden system files and folders by reversing the steps here.

Keep Sun Java Updated

There are numerous infections which take advantage of exploits present in older Sun Java installations. Ensure you are running the latest version by reading this.

Disable and Re-enable System Restore to Flush Infected Restore Points

Disable and re-enable System Restore to ensure there are no infected files found in your restore points.

Click Start > Right click My Computer> Properties> System Restore and place a check next to the "Turn off System Restore" box.

Restart the machine to flush the restore points and then re-enable System Restore by removing the check from the "Turn off System Restore" box.

Then go to Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore and create a new Restore Point.

Protect Yourself in the Future!!

Click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

How can I protect myself on the Internet?
