whats a good program to remove spyware and it is also free?

The most common and best one i can think of is Spybot Search & Destroy.

im actually looking into a spyware scanner as well to compliment my McAfee protection.

I used adware in the past, but i see windows defender and several others out there that seem better (even though I have heard bad things about windows defender, that it doesnt catch anything!)

iv heard avg sucks? am i wrong?

is adware not good anymore? I noticed they have a new 2008 version that is a big fix over the 2007

AVG 8.0 is very good, it has everything in the one(1) package, i've never had a problem with it.
