System restore is only tracking back to Jan 21. The problem started long before that.
Also, how will i know what date to take it back too?

Try Avast! antivirus home edition. It is really good and it save my laptop many time.

If thats as far back as system restore goes, then it looks like you will be reinstalling windows from scratch.

okay. a friend also suggested that I could use "dropbox" to back up my entire desktop n' such... and then I reinstall windows and start over.

Yes you could do that if you want. Just know you can only back up data (pictures, music, docs, etc.) and not actual programs.
