I have already got AVG spyware and spybot but have just run spydoctor which appears to have found ten more infrections which the other two haven't picked up.

Does anyone have any suggestions for free spyware (other than the two mentioned above and spydoctor) that they have used successfully please?:)

Arovax antispyware which runs in realtime, super antispyware is good but does take a long time to scan.
Advanced windows care is a good tool, the thing to remember is that all antispyware has a slightly differant definition as to what spyware is,so some will pick up stuff that another dont.
if you go to major geeks, you can loads of free stuff

I wouldn't be surprised Spydoctor has found some "supposed" infections on your machine. Both PCTools and Webroot's SpySweeper regularly scan your computer and "find" something, but a lot of the time it is nothing more than some tracking cookies that 1.) are not dangerous, and 2.) could be easily deleted by simply deleting your cookies and cache from your internet options.

I don't doubt the ligitimacy of these two companies, but do find some of their "scare tactics" when trying to make people buy a little shady...

Hi, mate

I was very surprised when it "found" ten more infections as I had run AVG and Spybot already - I think some were described as "desktop hijack tracker" or something similar - closely followed by a suggestion that I buy their product! You may well have seen through their tactics:D

Thanks to everybody who responded I do appreciate your help.

ad.adserverplus.com

I have downloaded and run the software suggested on the forum but I cannot seem to rid the computer of the above advert which appears everytime I log.
Nothing seems to shift the thing.

Has anyone any idea or experience of this please and how to stop it?
