im considering on my next build to get a SSD for computer but i dont know when coz my computer hasnt blown up yet so could be a while, i just want your opinion are they worth getting also i heard somewhere that SATA 2 which is 300Mbps isnt quick enougth for it it needs at least SATA 3 which will come out next year which is 600 i think

SSD's are still too expensive for me. And they do run a hell of a lot better in RAID. Sata 2 is actually what they use. I wouldn't worry about getting more than 1, if any. There are a lot of good things about them, but I can't afford one. Would be nice to own one.
Use 1 for your main OS, that way your boot times are faster. Or get a couple and RAID them, like I previously stated. They are very nice drives, but pricey.
If you can dish out the money for small, yet fast storage, then do it. But if you want storage as well as speed, get a SSD for your OS, and extra HDD's for storage.

well you dont really need to wait for it to blow up :P

just need a new mobo, ram, and proc.

i take thats is a JOKE as its a TAGAN, is my 500w still beable to cope with the new intel i7

My sarcasm didnt show very well over the internet again did it:( And yes, i was being sarcastic when i said that(cuz i think tagan's are overpriced compared to a corsair/ocz)

running an i7 with that gpu on that psu would be very very tricky. might handle or might not. I'd just get new mobo, cpu, ram and psu.

Lol back on topic...

So conclusions? Whats this suddering thing Ive read about? How much faster are they in boot times/loads than normal 7200rpm drives?

I think the average latency of an average SSD is 0.5ms? I'm not sure, but it's quicker than 5ms. They can read around 200Mb/s and write 160Mb/s.

I read that SSD's aren't very good with Vista. I haven't done any research into this, but I have seens tons of comments backing this up. And there was an SSD producer who said "If your SSD sucks, blame Vista".
