im getting a laptop and have the option of either getting the standard 500gb hd or the 128gb ssd. i know that ssd is alot better and way faster but is 128gb of it enough? getting it on the asus g51jx btw. thanks.

Yeah id definatly opt for the SSD it will be much faster....if you stuck on space you could always just buy a bigger external drive for data storage etc.

whats the price diffrence between you having the laptop with the SSD or the 500gb standard drive?

If money is not a problem go with the SSD. But SSD is kind of overpriced because it's new technology. Also depends on how you use your free space. If you need more than 128GB then go with the 500GB one.

mainly just school work. writing papers and surfing the web and stuff. but i do alot of gaming. will ssd make that big of a difference for gaming?

ill be mainly using it for school work in college, writing papers and surfing the web. i do alot of gaming though, so will the ssd make that big of a difference for gaming?

As far as space goes my current laptop has soemthing like 110GB HDD and that is enough for me. This is my work computer and I am a full time college student also.

However, if you plan to save tons of stuff you might need more space? I have desktops for the stuff I need computing power and the laptop HDD space is fine for any normal task I have. Only you can answer the size question.

it will be enough for a laptop. hold ten movies or so at a time, have three-six games installed simultaneously, hold all your music, and school files, that all takes MAYBE 80gb. and since ssd's don't slow down as you fill them like a traditional hard drive, you can really utilize more space than would otherwise be effective.
