Been contemplating an ssd upgrade. Been looking at a crucial mx100 and Samsung 850. Good choices?
I need at least 250gb. I will turn my current 500gb into a mass storage/media drive. Plus I have a 750gb for image backups and 2tb WD my cloud.
I am really just looking for an increase in program launching and boot time. Which I'm sure an ssd will accomplish. I just want an ssd that will last a long time and not degrade quickly. Considering I have had my Samsung f3 for 4 years and it hasnt lost any speed.
My mobo is older and also would like to know what kind of support it has for ssd's. Would my mobo be a big bottleneck?
Eventually I will be replacing this mobo as it hasn't seen a bios update since 2010, doesn't have usb 3.0, etc.
Don't want to spend much more than $100
Currently my 500gb drive has 250gb used but, I have a 40gb virtual machine, 30gb music, and 20gb of various files that all could remain on the 500 once I get an ssd. However I would prefer to have a larger drive than absolutely needed. Just to "future proof" myself a little
