so what should i have on my SSD and what should i have on my HDD and why do some things kill SSDs or whatever, just someone explain the differences and what they are good at
How big is your SSD?
Nice one, I have the 64gb version and couldn't be happier. You really only want the OS and a few of your most used programs on the SSD and then the balance goes on your storage drive. I really didn't want to spend any more money then what I did but I should have gotten a bigger drive.
so most played games and programs and OS and that wouild be it? and i heard something like dont keep putting stuff on and taking stuff off an SSD cause it ruins it or something
Like ive said many times,I could never go back to a standard 7200 Rpm Hard drive after using a SSD the diffrence is like Night/Day.
You would want to use the SSD & Hard drives like...
SSD- OS and most used Apps
HDD-Games and everything else.
I have the 60Gb Vertex 2,And have about 20Gb ish free,I plan to get another one at a later date for Raid 0.
how can u use the programs/games on your HDD without using the SSD if the OS is on the SSD?
I agree with this as well, for the most part. GC and TRIM do do a good job of cleaning the flash. Trim will remove the deleted or uninstalled, but not all of it (fragment). GC will clean up most all the rest of the fragment, but only after the controller has several times moved it out of it's needed data storing way, and the system has deemed it garbage. If a lot of fragmetation happens, they can actually regain some performance back as they clean themselves up.I think the thing you read about problems with putting stuff on and off the drive has to do with the issue fixed with garbage collection and TRIM.
if they are already on your HDD do you still have to reinstall them?
