SSD which one, im ready

Go with Intel X25-m 120GB or the Vertex 2 120GB. Both are fast and are some of the fastest SSD out there. If you have SATA3 then the Crucial C300 is the fastest SSD out atm but you pay for that performance.

Honestly I am waiting...3 months away from the 3rd generation Intel G3 drives which are faster and SHOULD be cheaper. However I am buying a 60GB version if I can find it at 1$ per GB. My windows 7 x64 only installs @ 2GB so 50GB is easily enough for games and start up programs :P

*edit*
Forgot to mention the 120GB Intel version has a $30 rebate (the 80GB too) and a free game which you could sell for $20-30 and get a rather good deal on it :)

^what they said^
Not saying the w/r speed on the Intl would matter much, but the Vertex 2 and Phx Pro, are 2 that have 2,000,000 hrs between failures and the Intell is 1,500,000.
I wouldnt get the plextor as it is less in both of those catagories.
The ones with Sandforce controller seem to be at the top right now.

Ok ..... im listening. i will make up my mind likely tomorrow.
i will check the comparison and try to figure it out.
will consider all notes and comparisons.
thanks

Don't mean to hijack this thread but I am in the process of buying an SSD maybe tomorrow as well and I was looking at the OCZ Vertex 2 120gb.

But now that I seen the G Skill drive, I am considering that one. Both have pretty much the same specs and the G Skill is cheaper. I normally don't factor in rebates when making a purchase.

IMO, even though the Intel is only rated for 1,500,000 hours doesn't mean anybody will ever use it that much. You would have to run it for 62,500 days to wear it out which is 171 years:eek:

As math would indicate.
But i wonder what the specs are for the amount of r/w for the hrs.

Reading isn't a big deal. But the writes and erases..is what compromises perf. over time.
(from an article)

" Intelligent disk management :

The simplest way of all; just don't move files from one partition to another or install or uninstall, or create or delete files and folders unless absolutely necessary.

SSDs are simply great with marvellous read and write speeds, lightning quick access times, great durability and with enormous endurance wherein they can last almost infinitely when you just keep reading files from it.

But writing files and erasing them many times over as in normal usage, happens to be the sole aspect in which HDDs beat them."

Well Intel said this "Write : Minimum 5 years @ 20 GB write-erase / day" so to me that is impressive. I wont do 20GB a day unless I am installing games and even then that wont be daily. OCZ on the other hand wont tell you...least on the forums etc I haven't seen a solid answer.
