I've been contemplating getting an SSD for my desktop to use for my OS to make the boot faster. My main concern is that if there is a good priced SSD that will show a noticeable difference in boot speed over a regular HDD.
i bought a crucial ssd 64gig for £160ish and it was absolute crap!
I did tell you not to bother getting the SSD![]()
you can go for a 32Gb SSD. It should suffice for the OS and only it.I was planning on having just Windows and the updates on the SSD and everything else on my HDD.
The stutter is caused by the stupid cheap Jmicron controllers that low end SSD's use. If you have the money look into the Intel SSDs, they seem to fair a lot better than others.
So what is the difference between single and multi cells?
a 2000 rpm hdd is better than a ssd
SLC>MLC, yes its worth it. You would prolly be better with a velociraptor or two in raid. But at what price? SSD is better than 15k and lower RPM HDD's but are a hell of a lot more. I'm looking for a good balance of price and performance.
Does anyone think a 10k or 15k RPM drive be worth it to boot up an OS?
