Ssd

So i know that solid state drives load the data much faster, use less power, and are more reliable. But are these reasons alone worth it to put in a computer in this day and age? The cost is a whole lot for how small it is :o
Example: If i bought a computer with a 1TB harddrive, which i think is stupid for me id never use that but its an example lol, would it be wise to replace the 1TB with a 128GB SSD? i mean i could use all the "main" things i use on my solid state and then buy an external for any other stuff i occasionally use. Would this be practical? or just wait until more manufactures are making the SSD and the price lowers then get it?
Sorry if this is confusing ><

thanks
