so i bought a SSD for one of my computers with the hope of getting windows 7 for it shortly after and starting fresh.
so its been a few weeks and no windows 7. i was wondering if i can put a few programs on the SSD with my current OS(vista).
i did plug up the SSD and it is listed in the BIOS, but i cant seem to find it under my computer and i dont have the option to install to it when i begin to download.
is it just not possible to use the SSD with out the OS on it or am i doing something wrong?

please help

The Windows 7 installer aligns it. So as a data drive you should
- check with the manufacturer's(their ssd forum) for any needed firmware update and what they recommend for the aligment size.
-align it before installing programs. Windows default is 1024 (kb)
