Standby and Hibernation Issues.

WinDOS

I have an HP Pavillion DV6 Entertainment PC with windows 7 on, (i know this model is known for design flaws.) But until recently, I was able to standby and hibernate my system, but recently, whenever the computer goes onto standby/hibernation, when I restart the PC later on, it doesn't boot into Windows 7. I just get a black screen. If I hold the Power Button to force-shut down, and then reboot normally, not restoring data as you would in hibernation, the computer runs perfectly. Any ideas on the cause of this error.

Basically, if I boot normally, I get the OEM HP logo, then Loading windows then I can log on, if I boot from standby or hibernation, whether put into this power state by me (the user) or by the system itself, I boot and get the OEM logo, then just a black screen, and the laptop stops responding. I am not too worried about this but am just curious as to whether its a technical glitch or whether there are settings somewhere that can be configured.

Thanks.

Its most likely a driver issue. After you boot back up, do you get any error messages?

It flashes "HP" logo when starting up, and then it would usually come up with ""Loading Drivers (Loading Windows but I use nogui boot with MSCONFIG)", but it just goes to a black screen.

I get the black screen coming out of hibernation on my Latitude sometimes as well. Just close the lid and reopen it and it should come back up.

yes i get that

is there a small button anywhere on the model which you click to get the screen back on its usally where the laptop lid shuts so it clicks it when it closes
