Start Menu is too tall - help

My start menu goes almost to the top of the screen although I don't have many programs pinned to it. So, in a sense, the bottom half of it is totally blank on both the left and right halves. It used to not do that. It would always only be as tall as needed and no more. Could it be that it is because I use the zune msstyle? I can't remember if zune was like that when I first starting using it a few weeks ago.

It's just annoying to click on Start and then to have to go all the way to the top to click on My Docs or My Pics etc.

Crikey:eek: I've got the same theme and have never seen that. I now know what you mean.
It looks corrupted at the top, have you tried another theme and then return to Zune or even delete it and download it again.

The black rectangle at the top is my way of removing the name. In reality it shows my name there. :)

I'll try your suggestion now and post back.

Hmmm, even in the windows classic theme it does it.

You know when you right click the taskbar, then "properties", "start menu", customize". I can only get that effect if I put "number of items on start menu" above 15 and clearing the list.

Put the figure on "0" and try it.

EDIT - Cromewell types faster than me:D

Well, it does affect it. I had it at 6. If I bring it to 1 or 0, then it does get smaller (the smaller the number the smaller the size). But, then I lose the ability to have that list of recently used programs.
So, even if the list is cleared, the menu stays big according to whatever number I have in the settings. That doesn't seem right. I used to not have that issue before.

Yea, mine is set to 7 and the starting point size is determined by what I have in the right hand column. Sorry but all I can think of is its a registry corruption, but where ?

yeah, I think the registry holds the answer. Not sure where. I'll have to keep looking. Thanks anyway. Maybe someone else here will know where to look.
