start up problem

hey guys

when i turn my computer on, the motherboard page comes up. then it occasional goes to a blank screen with a curser up in the top left hand corner and just sits there blinking, and dosent boot.

any ideas?

a little problem understanding your question.
did you intend to say it is a constant problem or an occasional occurrence?
could be loose cable
could be bad HD
could bad/corrupted operating system.
might also try reseting BIOS
also check to see if BIOS is seeing the HD
the blank screen and blinking curser usually is an indication that the HD didn't initialize.
 
couple of things you come try, and like larry said, make sure all cables are connected and surcrue, reset your BIOS (there a little jumper on your mobo near the battery, there will be 3 pins with a jumper connecting 2 or the pins, pull its off and put the jumper on the other pin (if 1+2 change to 2+3) and live it for at least 5 seconds then change it back)
try doing a diagnostic test on your HDD.
