Start up problem

Ok people,
I'm at work and my wife called me from home, the computer wont start up. She tried to reset it, turned it off, and unplug it, nothing works as of yet. She says she can hear it kick on, the monitor will flash a green (I think she said) screen and then go into standby mode. Any ideas? I did have to replace the fan a few months ago, maybe its dead already? Other than that, I have no ideas, as I am not a computer expert.

I realize ur at work but when you get home, we're gonna need a lot more information (actually we're gonna need information period) about the system (specs etc) :)
