Start up problems

I've just built a new system & the first boot seemed to go ok (Although no beeps?) I then loaded windows 7 (Which i havn't been able to activate yet).

But now whenever i start it i struggle to get the computer and screen to come on at the same time, Then when i eventually do i get a "Overclocking failed" message.

I haven't tried to overclock or even change any settings. I've tried to research this and it seems Oclocking failed is a general message when somethings not right?
I have tried removing the cmos battery for 5, And also a larger psu from my other similar system.

Any ideas?

Its a Asus hdmi motherboard, q6600 and 2gb ddr2.

If i hit F2 then it does boot up but its a lot of hassle. Im using a raptor hard drive which seems quite noisey, I dont know if this is normal for high speed HDDs?

The only thing i can think to try next is replacing the mobo or memory but if either of those were faulty i can't see why it would of booted ok the first time.

When you take the battery out make sure you unplug the power supply and then press the power button on the case a few times to discharge any power left on the board.

hi, you can return it before your warranty period runs out.i had the sane prob with my HP too but they changed it for me.act fast bro!

That's a good board. I have the exact with Q6600 overclocked @ 3.70GHz

If you just install Windows 7 fresh, run a Windows Update to obtain updated G35 chipset drivers.

Thanks, This actually seemed to work! Its starting up fine now, Although i've read in several places that windows 7 is supposed to have a fast boot time?
Im not convinced its loads up faster than vista! 80 seconds for me that'll have to do lol

All i understood from that was system update lol All looks a bit complex, Isn't your processor running a bit on the warm side tho? I think mines running at about 38 degrees, I don't think i'll bother overclocking as i only have basic needs and no gaming.

Cheers guys
