start up repair?

that has launched twice in two months....first time it repaired the start up tonight it kept attempting repair but just keep the same screen..turned computer off manually the picked start normally and that worked...I'm wondering a program like Norton 360 could cause this win7 64 bit

So when it boots up, it's set by default to startup repair, every time?

My guess is that you may have a failing hard drive. What brand of drive is it?

Try running a disk check. Go to Computer, open up Properties for drive C:, then click on the Tools tab and then Check Now.

Do the following for all your partitions:

-open command prompt (cmd.exe)
-write:

chkdsk.exe C: /F /R /X /V

-press ENTER and let it finish.If you are required to restart,write "Y" and press ENTER and then write the following:

shutdown.exe -R -T 0

-press ENTER
-the process will start on the next reboot so let it finish no matter how long it takes.(Unless if the HDD led doesn't light at all).

-do the same for all your other partitions such as "D:","E:","F:" and so on...(if any)
