Starting a website... Need help...

I would like to post a website somewhere without popups and ad bars and I was wondering if anyone knows if I have to buy a hosting package or if I can just buy a domain and upload my site.If I have to buy the hosting package, then I have another question... How could I create a cheep domain name and just have it re-direct to someplace else? Thanks for your input!

In general, you can either
1. get a domain name only and redirect it to a free site, but the free hosted website usually contains advertisements by the provider. Also redirection is not good for search engine optimization.

2. get a domain name and also a paid web hosting account as well. You do not get ads, and this is the best way for search engine optimization.

ok...I use www.urevised.com , they are very cheap! You can buy web hosting for £2.50, which gives you; 1 GB space, 3 emails, 3 MySQL databases, and 5 GB bandwidth That will give a subdomain, e.g, http://yourname.urevised.com. What you can do though, is buy a domain through urevised, for an extra £7.50 for the whole year! So that would be £2.50 a month, and £7.50 a year... £37.50 a year altogether...
