Starting My Own Build

Hello everyone, I just registered here and I have quite a bit I need help with. Firstly, im going to tell you why im starting my own build. I just recently bought an Alienware M17 for $3300 and it has to be the worst purchase I have ever made and have ever been unsatisfied with. Games can only be run on Medium with MINOR lag and skipping when moving the mouse, and its not worth the money. Im going to return it, pay the %15 restock fee, and build my own desktop computer.

I need help with a couple of things...

1) This is going to be a GAMING desktop.
2) My price range doesnt have a minimum-maximum; I am solemly looking for the best to-date hardware/software to build the craziest desktop for gaming.
3) I need help with picking out the hardware/software.
4) Can you provide me with links to websites that sell custom desktop cases?

For starters, this is what I have come up with thus-far. Please help me come up with better internals (if there are any). And/or let me know if what I have so far is even good....

When you post, if giving me names on products, please also provide links to the product; it will be greatly appreciated.

Any help will be appreciated.

^ LMAO, GTX295 FTW, no questions ask lol

Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition i7-965 (3.2 GHZ) - $900

^ dont waste your $ on that, just get i7 920 and OC' it.

Vista Ultimate 64-bit - $100

^ try using the new OS, W7 = faster/way better than Vista 64. or other OS now. +its FREE! until 2010

what you're going to want to do is build it yourself. my recommendation is to use newegg. this way you aren't paying for a brand name, or for labor. assembling it yourself couldn't be easier, and if you run into trouble there are plenty of online guides, plus you will find help at this forum.

if this is what you want to do, let me know and i'll start recommending some parts.

not sure where you picked out these parts, but i'd advise against the i7 965 and the 9800 GX2.

Alright let me rephrase my help lol. This should be a better easier way for us to have fun and yet solve my problem! Weee!

Everyone, start posting a COMPLETE pc gaming desktop build and put the specs in here and we'll compare/spectate each.

BTW, my price range is about $3500-. I could work around 3k's, but not over 4k

Include everything, cooling, everything to make this thing a monster

I know your not wanting a min/max, and i'm not sure if these are the best of the bes,. but heres a list bomberboysk gave me for my under $2000 computer.

Doesnt really help man. I could go well over that price range. I want to build an insane gaming desktop.

Right now im putting everything in my cart at newegg to see how much it will average out to be
