hi to dear viewers
===================
i've installed windows 98 on drive C: and windows server 2003 (Standard Edition)
on drive D:
i decided to romove windows 98 and install windows xp instead of it
so i deleted folders of Windows98 which are relevent to itself Windows98
such as:Windows ,Program Files and so on and kept another files which required
for system compatibility and Windows server
such as :ntdetect.com , command.com,boot.ini and so on.
i've installed windows XP on drive c: successfuly and it runs truely now but
when i choose my Windows Server at system startup menu it causes to appear a black screen
without any Error/notice Message and it remains until i press Restart Burron.
i check boot.ini file but it's correct as before ! please help me ...
i have important files and programs on my Windows Server and don't want to lose them
thanks a lot ...

boot.ini may be the same as before but that might not be the correct config for winXP...
you prolly deleted a dll file that was in the 98 folder that u need.
i dont know anything about windows server, if you can reinstall it I would try that.

Why would you delete files? When you install a copy of XP, you should format the C: drive first, then install to the C: drive. You may need to reinstall Windows Server, or repair it. If that doesn't work, install a fresh copy of Win XP, formatting the whole C: drive first, then installing to the C: drive.

you installed XP after you installed Server 2003. If what holds true with XP and 2000 server/professional, you will need to insert your windows 2003 disk and boot from it, let setup load. Once setup loads, you can simply exit setup (take out the server 2003 disk) and let it boot normally. If your going to dual boot, make it a rule of thumb to install them in the order they were released.
